Authorities said 37-year-old Shawn M. Tobin was the passenger in a Ford they stopped near Lang and Pike Streets in Port Carbon on Nov. 22.

When a trooper allegedly found drugs in the car, police said Tobin snatched it from his hands and "ingested it" before running away from the traffic stop on foot.

A short chase ended with his arrest, police said.

Tobin, of Middleport, was charged with evading arrest, resisting arrest, tampering with evidence, and related drug charges, court records show. He posted his $10,000 bail and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Dec. 19.
